I usually look forward to the Rainy season each year due to the fact that we get to enjoy cool weather, especially at night because I for one have zero tolerance for heat and mosquitoes.
Plus I get to enjoy some seasonal food and fruits that comes with the season, Pear and Corn especially.
However, there are 2 things that raises my concern during this period,
- Is that fact that rain makes everywhere dirty with mud and the likes
- It comes with different species of insects and reptiles
That number 2 is my major concern.
I was on the internet this evening looking for ways to better my blog when my toddler brought a little present and handed it over to me. I was curious to know what it was, can you guess? I really doubt you can!
At first I couldn't wrap my head around what it was, and then, booom, I figured it out. It was a middle sized Scorpion that was half-deadπ€·π. Apparently, she picked it up from somewhere.
I quickly dropped it, got a brighter light to be double sure of what I saw, and it didn't change, it was a Scorpion.
I immediately killed it and examined her to be sure she didn't get a sting. I didn't see anything and she didn't show any sign of being in pain. So I just administered home remedy, just incase.
I really could not thank God enough, I mean, what if it stung her, would she have been able to say what happened to her? How did it even even get so weak? Where did it even come from?
So many questions. So many "what-ifs", but in all, I am forever grateful for God's unending protection over my family. Even in our unfaithfulness, he remains ever faithful.
This is just a wake up call for myself and you reading this post, to be very vigilant, careful and observant during this period.
Look out for these dangerous insects.
Fumigate your surroundings if you must
If you leave anything outside during the day, before you take it back into the house, inspect it thoroughly to ensure nothing is hiding anywhere.
If you have openings anywhere around your door or Windows, look for a permanent or temporary means to block it.
In all, always apply SAFE(Survey the Area, Access the risk, Find a Safe way, Everytime) at all times
Cheers!
