How to Activate Two-factor Authentication on your Facebook Account

Two-factor  Authentication Is an additional security feature, aside your Facebook password, which was introduced to help secure your Account from hackers and intruders.

When you activate this, You will be asked to confirm your login attempt or even enter a security code each time you or someone else tries to login to your account with a browser Facebook doesn't recognize.

One great benefit of two-factor Authentication is that it notifies you each time you or someone else tries to login to your account with an unrecognised or unsaved browser or mobile device.

Once activated, you will be asked to save the mobile device or browser you used when you turned on two-factor authentication. This will help you not to enter security codes each time you login to your account.

However, if you are using a public Computer(a computer other people have access to) to access your account,we strongly advise you don't save the browser.

We will focus more on the third-party Authentication App for the purpose of this write-up.

You need to install a third-party Authentication App like Google Authenticator, DUO, LastPass or Microsoft Authenticator. It is best to install any of these apps on the device you usually use to access Facebook.

After you are done installing an Authenticator App on your phone, now It's time to activate your two-factor Authentication.

  •  Click on the 3 lines at the top right corner of your profile

  • Scroll to the bottom of Facebook
  • Tap on settings & privacy

  • Scroll to use two-factor

At this point, you may be asked to enter your password, this is to confirm it is you who is trying to activate this.

  • Tap on Authentication App

Then follow the instructions that follows

A security code will be sent to the Authenticator App, which you are required to input into your Facebook account to login or you can scan the QR code to gain access.

And there you go, your Facebook account is safe and secure.
